Privacy Policy

This journal collects and processes personal data strictly within the ordinary and legitimate operations of a peer-reviewed scholarly publication. The primary purpose of data collection is to enable editorial communication, manage the publication workflow, and ensure the transparent dissemination of academic research. Collected information is used to identify authorship and editorial responsibility, to compile aggregated statistics on readership activity, and to observe broader geographic and social patterns in scholarly communication. The journal does not employ personal data for profiling, predictive analytics, or automated decision-making.

Data Collection and Processing

The journal operates using Open Journal Systems (OJS), which gathers personal data through several functional mechanisms. These include information provided during user registration, metadata supplied during manuscript submission, records generated throughout the editorial workflow, and limited technical information collected from general website visitors.

User Registration Data

When individuals register on the journal website, the system requires the collection of basic identifying and contact information. This includes the user’s full name, chosen username, encrypted password, and email address.

Registered users may optionally provide additional profile details either at the time of registration or later through profile editing. Such optional information may include institutional affiliation, country of residence, reviewing interests, salutation, initials, gender, ORCID identifier, personal website, postal address, telephone or fax number, and a brief biography.

The system automatically records the date of user registration and the most recent login activity. Journal administrators may also create user accounts upon request. All registration and profile information is accessible only to the individual user and authorized journal staff and is not publicly displayed. Users may edit their personal details at any time, except for usernames and system-generated dates.

Contributor Metadata

During manuscript submission, personal data relating to contributors is collected and stored as part of the submission record. Contributors may include authors, translators, editors, or other individuals involved in the creation of the manuscript. The submitting author is responsible for ensuring that all listed contributors have consented to the provision of their personal data.

Contributor information typically includes full name and email address, along with optional details such as country, salutation, ORCID identifier, institutional affiliation, website, and short biographical statement. Editors may amend or supplement contributor metadata as required during the editorial process. Once a manuscript is published, contributor metadata becomes part of the permanent scholarly record and is removed only under exceptional circumstances.

Editorial Workflow Records

To preserve the integrity and traceability of the publication process, the journal maintains records of all actions performed by authors, editors, reviewers, and other participants within the editorial workflow. These records are essential for accountability, quality assurance, and historical archiving and are retained as part of the journal’s official records except in rare and justified cases.

General Website Usage Data

Like most websites, this journal automatically collects limited technical information from visitors. This may include IP addresses, browser type, session cookies, page access logs, and timestamps of visits. These data are used to maintain site functionality, security, and performance. The journal may also use third-party analytics services, such as Google Analytics, to evaluate overall website usage patterns. Such analytics are accessed only in aggregated form and do not permit the identification of individual users.

Visitors may disable cookies in their browser settings. While this may prevent user login functionality, general access to publicly available content remains unaffected.

Data Sharing and Transfers

Contributor metadata associated with published articles may be shared with external indexing and dissemination services to support the visibility and accessibility of scholarly work. Such transfers may occur through indexing platforms or standardized harvesting protocols such as OAI-PMH. Services that may receive contributor metadata include, but are not limited to, scholarly databases and indexing agencies. User account profile data is never shared with third parties.

Correction and Deletion Requests

Users may request the correction or deletion of personal information associated with their user accounts. Identity verification may be required before processing such requests. While the journal will make reasonable efforts to comply, certain information may remain in backup systems for a limited time or be retained where necessary to meet legal requirements, resolve disputes, ensure the integrity of the scholarly record, or comply with contractual obligations. The journal is committed to aligning its data practices with recognized data protection standards while safeguarding the permanence and reliability of academic publishing.

Contact

Questions regarding this privacy policy, or requests related to the correction or removal of personal data, may be directed to the journal’s editorial management team. Current contact details are provided on the journal’s official contact page.
